Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains how The Crucible collects, uses, and shares information when you create an account, post content, or participate in our forums.

It also explains your choices and how to contact us about your information. Please read it alongside our Terms and Conditions.

What information we collect

We collect information you provide and limited technical information needed to run The Crucible:

  • Account information: your email address, username, display name, account creation date, and authentication records. Passwords are stored in hashed form rather than as readable text.
  • Content you submit: posts, replies, uploads, profile details, and other information you choose to share through available features.
  • Voice tester text: when you enable ElevenLabs voice and press Display in Regina's dialogue tester, the entered text is sent to ElevenLabs to generate speech.
  • Support communications: information you send when asking a question, reporting content, or making an account or privacy request.
  • Technical information: IP addresses, browser or device information, session records, and service logs generated when you access the platform.

Please avoid submitting sensitive information that is not necessary for your use of the service, including government identification, financial details, or someone else's private information.

How we use your information

We use information to:

  • Create accounts, sign you in, maintain sessions, and display profiles and content.
  • Operate discussions and other features you choose to use.
  • Respond to support requests, reports, and privacy inquiries.
  • Protect accounts, prevent abuse, enforce community rules, and investigate technical problems.
  • Maintain the service and meet applicable legal obligations.

We limit collection and use to these purposes. If we introduce a materially different use of personal information, we will explain it and obtain any consent required by law.

How we share your information

Public content. Your username, display name, profile join date, and content submitted to public areas may be visible to other users and visitors. Public posts may also be copied, quoted, or indexed by search engines. Your email address and password are not displayed on your public profile.

Service providers. We use providers such as Vercel for hosting and Supabase for database storage. They process information as needed to deliver and protect those services. Access by the operator and people assisting with support or moderation should be limited to what their work requires.

Optional voice generation. ElevenLabs processes the dialogue you submit with voice enabled and returns generated audio. We do not include your account email, password, or session token in the speech request. This app does not save tester text or generated audio to its database; provider processing and retention are governed by ElevenLabs' Privacy Policy. Disable voice to display text without sending it to ElevenLabs.

Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary and legally permitted to protect people, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights. If the platform changes ownership, relevant information may transfer as part of that change, subject to applicable requirements.

We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and sessions

We use session cookies and related authentication records to keep you signed in and support basic account functionality. Our hosting services may also process technical request information to deliver the website and help prevent abuse.

You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent login or cause some features to stop working. Signing out ends the current authenticated session.

If we introduce optional tracking or advertising features, we will update this policy and provide any choices or consent controls required by law.

Where we store your information

The platform uses third-party hosting and database infrastructure. Information may be stored or processed outside the country where you live, including in the United States, and may be subject to the laws of those locations.

We consider privacy and security when selecting providers. You can contact us for information about the providers and cross-border processing relevant to your account.

Your rights and choices

You choose what to share in public areas and may use a display name rather than your real name. Please remember that other people may retain copies of content you have made public.

Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, withdraw consent, or object to certain uses. To make a request, email rodeoupstairs@gmail.com from the address associated with your account when possible.

We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity and understand your request. We will respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any lawful reason that prevents us from fulfilling a request. Withdrawing consent for information necessary to operate your account may mean we can no longer provide that account.

If you remain concerned after contacting us, you may contact the privacy or data-protection authority responsible for your region.

The security of your information

We use safeguards such as password hashing, authenticated sessions, and restricted database access to help protect account information. We work to limit access to information to people and systems that need it to operate the service.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password, sign out on shared devices, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access. We will address security incidents and provide notifications when required by applicable law.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed to operate your account, provide the service, address safety or security issues, resolve disputes, and satisfy applicable legal obligations. The appropriate period depends on the type of information and why it is held.

You can request account closure or deletion by contacting us. Information that is no longer needed should be deleted or anonymized. Limited copies may remain in backups until those copies are replaced, and certain records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons. We will explain relevant exceptions when responding to a deletion request.

Deleting your account or content cannot remove copies independently retained by other users or third-party services.

Information relating to children and teens

The Crucible is not intended for children under 13, or anyone below a higher minimum age required in their location. Young users should review our policies with a parent or guardian and obtain any permission required by law.

If you believe a child who is not eligible has provided personal information, contact us. We will investigate and take appropriate steps, which may include closing the account and deleting information that we are not legally required to retain.

Privacy Policy updates

We may update this policy when our features, providers, or practices change. The date at the top identifies the most recent revision. We will provide notice of material changes through the platform or another appropriate channel and seek new consent where required.

Our Terms and Conditions explain the rules for using the platform and participating in the community.
